Claude P Brown Memorial Lecturers

Claude P. Brown, M.D., (1875-1976), was Pathologist at the U.S. Veterans Hospital at Coatesville, PA, and later served as Director of the Bureau of Laboratories of the Pennsylvania Department of Health. After retirement from that position in 1948, he established a private clinical laboratory in Philadelphia, PA, which he directed until age 96 years. Dr. Brown made important research findings in microbiology, serology, allergy, and clinical microscopy. He was active in the Society of American Bacteriologists and was a founder of the Association of Clinical Scientists. He attended every meeting of the Association from 1956 to 1971 and was the first recipient of the Association's Diploma of Honor (1957). He was beloved for his modesty, kindness, generosity, and good humor. The Claude P. Brown Memorial Fund commemorates his furtherance of clinical science.
